Awright, I had a crazy new movie idea while in the shower. Why it is that all my best ideas come to me while showering or mowing the lawn, I don't know. But this idea, I seriously want to do.
It's a movie that's a puzzle. You go through the movie, a short one, 5-10 minutes, and it's pretty generic. It either ends abruptly with nothing really happening, or with something completely wicked and out of the blue happening. Then, the last line of the credits tips you off to an area in the movie where you'll find another hint, and keep following hints till you discover the secret, which gives the movie tons of more meaning.
Example:
=Last line of credits tells you to look for jibbleybob.
=In one scene, the main character is on a computer. If viewers pause the movie, they can see that the computer is on a post by jibbleybob on SLIC forums.
=Viewer goes on SLIC forums and checks user Jibbleybob. His karma is 012.
=Viewer checks and pauses the movie 12 seconds in, where the movie has skipped, and a quasi-subliminal message has been slipped in, which has the word "razor" on it.
=Viewer goes to a part of the movie where a razor is used, and sees that the brand name is "Wackanoodle."
=Viewer goes to solameitscool.sitesled.com/wackanoodle.htm and finds the next hint, which is Bible.
=Viewer goes to a scene where the main char is reading a bible, and notices that one verse in the bible was underlined, 4:17.
=Viewer goes to position 4:17 in the movie to find another hint, etc.
I really like the idea, although it's probably a lot harder to carry out than I think. The main problem is coming up with a generic story idea, and a twist that makes it all crazy insane awesome. The only thing I can think of is a 6th sense sort of deal, but that'd be lame. Anybody got anything?
